We were excited, exhausted and nervous all at the same time. We got there and they hook me up to the all goodies and started me on Pitocin. A little bit later I went ahead and got my epidural placed – this was super tough on me because it took 4 attempts until they finally got it in the right spot.. So I sat there for about 1.5 hours being prodded by a very painful needle into  my spine. Shortly after my OBGYN came in to break my water – this was about 11am or so I think. That really was when I realized my epidural was not working effectively so they gave me a very strong dose of Bolus (or something) and that completely numbed me from the waist down. I literally could not move my legs. Then the nausea hit and the sinus headache (I had a nice cold going on top of all this so I could not breathe).  I was given some medicine for my nausea and that knocked me senseless and I could not keep my eyes open. At this time I was dilated about 6 cm to this point. So I attempted to relax for about 2 hours and toward the end of that my contactions started in again and wow were they strong. So I was given another dose of Bolus and about an hour later it was time to push. Now it is about 8pm or so.

With Karsen I pushed for almost 3 hours and he had to be suctioned out by a vacuum. Eek. This time, Kooper was progressing down very quickly and smoothly so I pushed for about 45 minutes, they called in my OBGYN and 2 pushes later out he came @ 9:12pm. My emotions were all over the place with all the drugs I received that I just balled like a huge baby and could not control my tears. My sweet boy was here and I lost it.

Needless to say after about 13 hours of labor, it was worth every second. I was unable to get out of bed due to the anesthetic until about lunch time the following day so I was not really into taking many photos of my own. I did get a few and am thankful I had a birth photographer there for the labor part. Those photos are precious to me in so many ways. We have been home now for about a week and although my body is still frail, we are making it – happy and healthy!

Kooper came into the world weighing 7lbs 14oz (1 oz smaller than Karsen) and was 21 inches long (1 inch longer than Karsen)- with a lot of hair (although nothing compared to Karsen’s hair at birth).

I will take some official newborn photos this weekend – I have some new stuff to use on him so I am super excited!! :)

The weather was iffy all day but we lucked out and were able to get in some time with these adorable 2 year old twins. Now – when you should children, you have to really do everything you can to grab their attention. However, what you end up getting is their little personalities shining through without ever really being posed. We had ballet dancing and Thomas the train involved to make this session a success – Meredith and Chad .. I hope you see what I see in these adorable photos. Enjoy!
